- In Roman Mythology, Prince Aeneas is a Trojan Hero and the first Hero of Rome. He is the forefather of Romulus and Remus.

Virgil and the Aeneid
- Virgil describes Aeneas in the Aeneid as the son of Prince Anchises and the Goddess Venus.
- He is first cousin to King Priam of Troy, second cousin to Priam’s sons, Hector and Paris.
- After the Fall of Troy, Aeneas avoided death or being enslaved. He gathered together a group of men known as the Aeneads, and escaped to Italy.
- After a brief stay with Queen Dido at Carthage, King Latinus of Latium welcomed Aeneas and his Trojan army, and invited them to settle in his kingdom.
- Aeneas is the forefather of Romulus and Remus, the founders of Rome.
