• The Lake Nemi Roman Shipwrecks were found with their original steering oars confirming the pictures of Ships with steering oars.
• The first vessel had two pairs of steering oars, two each side of the stern, one ahead of the other.
• The second vessel had one pair of steering oars.
• The oars were 37 feet (11.3m) long.
