Fossa Drusiana

  • The Fossa Drusian was a Roman Canal built in Germania Inferior in 12 BCE by Nero Claudius Drusus.
  • It ran between the Rhine and the Zuider Zee and was used by Germanicus on later military campaigns.
  • Its location is unknown, but possibly it ran near either the river Ijssel or the lagoon area north of Utrecht.
