2. BRIEF SYNOPSIS
- Quintillus was elected Emperor because he was the brother of the Emperor Claudius II Gothicus. He was either elected Emperor by the Roman Senate or proclaimed Emperor by his Legions.
- However, the Pannonian Legions on the Danube proclaimed Aurelian Emperor.
- Therefore his reign was very short lived, one to six months at most.
- Quintillus is variously reported as having either committed suicide, or been killed in battle against Aurelian.
