2. BRIEF SYNOPSIS
- Olybrius was born into a powerful Roman Aristocratic family.
- Gaiseric the Vandal had proclaimed Olybrius Emperor twice before, but in neither case was he successful.
- Finally, he was Proclaimed Emperor by the Magister Militum Ricimer, in opposition to the Emperor Anthemius.
- Around August 472 CE, Ricimer, died, and Ricimer‘s nephew Gundobad, was appointed Magister Militum instead.
- His reign lasted only seven months, as he died from ill health.
