Agger

  • An Agger was an embankment built behind a defensive Roman Wall to strengthen it, or built under a Roman Road to raise it.

The Servian Wall

  • The Agger Servianus formed part of the Servian Wall defending Ancient Rome. It was a strongly fortified double rampart.

Roman Roads

  • Roman Roads had an Agger, which was a ridge underneath, allowing the road to drain.
