Amenemhet III

• The Pharaoh Amenemhet III ruled Egypt between 1860-1814 BCE, during the Middle Kingdom. (2055-1650 BCE).
• His rule is considered to be the Golden Age of the Middle Kingdom during which he built several major works.

Works

• Pyramid of Amenemhet III at Hawara
  • Also known as the Black Pyramid, it is one of 11 pyramids at Dahshur in Egypt. It contained the bodies of the Pharaoh and of his Queen.
• Labyrinth
  • The Labyrinth was adjacent to the Pyramid of Hawara, but does not exist today.
• Bahr Yussef Canal
  • The canal connected the Nile to Lake Moeris and still functions today.
