Ara Pacis, Rome
  • The Ara Pacis, meaning the ‘Altar of Augustan Peace’, was inaugurated on 30th January in 9 BCE.
  • It was commissioned by the Roman Senate to honour the return of Augustus to Rome.

  • Location: The Ara Pacis Museum, Lungotevere en Augusta, Rome.
  • Nearest Metro Station: Flaminio, Line A. Then Bus 628, 119.

Museum

  • In 1938, the Ara Pacis was relocated to its own museum at the Lungotevere en Augusta, Rome.
