Aspendos

  • The Ruins of Aspendos are located 4 miles (7km) east of the town of Serlik in the Antalya Province of the Mediterranean Region of southern Turkey.
  • Aspendos became part of the Roman Empire after 190 BCE, and was in the Province of Pamphylia.

Roman Sites

  • Aspendos Roman Theatre and Stage
    • Built in 155 CE, it has a seating capacity for 12,000 spectators and is perfectly preserved.
  • Aspendos Basilica
  • Aspendos Shops and Stoa
  • Aspendos Inverted Aqueduct
    • The Remains of the aqueduct run for 0.5 mile (1km) and include the inverted siphon which consisted of  three bridges and two towers where the water ascended and descended. The original aqueduct length was 12 miles (19km).
