Aurelius Victor

• Aurelius Victor (c.320-390 CE) was a Roman Historian and Politician.
• He is noted for a history of Rome called ‘De Caesaribus’.

Career

• Between 361-363 CE, he was Governor of Pannonia Secunda.
• In 369 CE, he was made Praefectus Urbanus of Rome.

     • published in 361 CE, it is a short history of Imperial Rome from Augustus to Constantius II.
   • Origo Gentis Romanae
   • De Viris Illustribus Romae
   • Epitome de Caesaribus
     • attributed to him, but not actually written by him.
