Autun

  • Autun is a cathedral city located on the river Arroux, a tributary of the Loire, in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comte Region of France.
  • It was the Civitas of the Aedui Gallic Tribe, known to the Romans as Augustodunum. It was in the Province of Gallia Lugdunensis and still holds several Roman Buildings.

History

  • In 356 CE, Julian successfully ended the Siege of Autun by the Alemanni.
