Beelzebub

  • Beelzebub was a God, worshipped by the Philistines in Akron, which is mentioned in The Bible, in the second Book of Kings, Kings 2, Chap. 1, lines 1-3.
  • He is identified with the Canaanite God ‘Baal’. Ba’al means ‘Lord’ in Ugaritic, and ‘Ba’al zebub’ meant either ‘Lord of the flies’ or ‘Lord of the house’. In Christianity, Beelzebub has come to mean Satan.
