Bodrum

  • Bodrum is a city located in the Mugla Province of southwestern Turky. It was the ancient Greek city of Halicarnassus.

    • Located at Carsu Mah, Nazum Hikmet Sk. No:4 D:1, Bodrum-Mugla.
    • The museum holds models of ships from Bodrum used over the ages.
  • Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archeology
    • Located at Bodrum Castle, Carsi Mh:, Bodrum-Mugla.
    • The museum holds a number of excavated vessels and their contents:
      1. Seytan Deresi shipwreck (16th century BCE)
      2. Uluburun Shipwreck (14th century BCE)
        • 10 tons Cypriot copper ingots, 1 ton Tin ingots, 150 glass ingots, Mycenaean Pottery, Egyptian Seals.
      3. Finike-Gelidonya shipwreck (12th century BCE)
      4. Tektas Burnu Classical Greek shipwreck (5th century BCE)
      5. Marmaris-Serce harbour shipwreck (Hellenisitic 3rd century BCE)
      6. Bodrum-Yassiada shipwreck (Late Roman 4th century CE)
      7. Bodrum-Yassiada shipwreck (Byzantine 7th century CE)
        • Merchant ship with 900 Amphorae
      8. Marmaris-Serce harbour shipwreck (glass 11th century CE)

    • Room 21. The Museum holds Artefacts from the Mausoleum of Mausolus at Halicarnassus, such as Statues, Marble relief slabs and fragments of the Marble Four-horse Chariot that once stood on the roof.
