Brading Roman Villa

  • Brading Roman Villa is an excavated courtyard villa located in Brading on the Isle of Wight in the County of Hampshire, England.
  • The villa is covered by a visitor centre and its buildings and mosaics are on display inside.

History

  • The vila dates to soon after the occupation of the Isle of Wight in 44 CE.
  • It was burnt at the end of the 3rd century CE, but excavated coins show that it continued to be occupied until 395 CE.

  • There are 12 Rooms arranged around three sides of a courtyard.
  • Five rooms have mosaics.
  • A Nymphaeum
  • Artefacts include Samian Pottery, Games and Jewelery
