Bridlington

  • Bridlington is a Port town in the East Riding of the County of Yorkshire.
  • It is thought to have been the site of a Roman coastal fort called Praesidium or Praetorium in the Province of Britannia.

    • This is a 10 mile (16km) straight section of the 34 mile (55km) Roman road between Bridlington and York.

  • Scarborough
    • The footings of a Roman Signal tower have been found at Scarborough.
    • It is thought that a chain of Signal towers ran along the east coast between the River Tees and Flamborough Head.
