Bristol

  • Bristol is a port and city located on the river Avon which developed during the Medieval Period.
  • There are vestiges of Iron Age Hill Forts and Roman Villas located in the area.

Sea Mills

  • Sea Mills is a suburb of Bristol which was the Roman port of Portus Abonae and was used to cross the Avon and reach the Roman Legionary Fort at Caerleon in Wales.

Museums

  • Bristol City Museum and Art Gallery
    • Located at Queens road, Bristol.
    • The museum holds artefacts that were excavated from the buried site of Pagan’s Hill Roman Temple at Chew Stoke (not open to the Public).
    • It also holds the Orpheus mosaic removed from the site of a Roman Villa at Newton St. Loe (not open to the Public).
