Bronze

  • Bronze is an alloy of Copper and Tin, not to be confused with Brass which is an alloy of copper and zinc.
  • The Roman As was a Roman coin made from Bronze during the Roman Republic. It was changed to copper during the Empire.

Copper

  • Copper in Latin was ‘Cyprium’, meaning the ‘metal of Cyprus’, which was then abbreviated to ‘Cuprum’.
  • This was because the majority of Copper production during the Roman Era came from Cyprus.

Bronze Age

  • The Bronze Age is a historical Period of time bewteen 3,200 to 500 BCE when the use of Bronze was dominant.
