Cappadocian Fathers

  • The Cappadocian Fathers, also known as the Three Cappadocians, are three Christian Fathers or Philosophers who all came from Cappadocia in Turkey.
  • They developed the Philosophy and Theology of Trinitarianism in Christianity and are recognised by both the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church.

The Three Cappadocians

    • Basil The Great (330-379 CE), the Bishop of Caesarea.
    • Gregory of Nyssa (Basil’s brother) (330-395 CE), the Bishop of Nyssa.
    • Gregory of Nazianzus (329-389 CE), the Patriarch of Constantinople.
