- The village of Carnac in Brittany, France, holds 3.000 Megalithic Stones, Menhirs, Tumuli and Dolmens dating from the Bronze Age c. 3,300 BCE.
- They are set out in a series of alignments 2.5 miles (4km) long.
Visiting
- From April to September, it is only possible to visit the alignments as part of a paid tour with a guide.
The Carnac Standing Stones
- They are laid out in three main groups:
- Menec
- 11 columns with a Cromlech at each end.
- Kermario
- 1,029 stones in 10 columns.
- Kerlescan
- 555 stones in 13 columns.
- Menec
- Petit Menec:
- This is a smaller group of alignments, concealed in the woods.
- The other Monuments:
- There are also Dolmens, Tumuli and Menhirs nearby.
