Chaussee Jules Cesar

  • The Chausee Jules Cesar was a Roman Road which ran north of the river Seine between Paris (Lutecia) and Rouen (Rotomagus), where the river becomes tidal.
  • The modern Route Nationale 14 follows the same course today.

Description

  • The Road was built by Agrippa, whilst he was Governor of Gaul from c. 38 BCE onwards.
  • It had a staging post every 9 miles (15km) and Rouen could be reached from Paris in one day.
