- Confucious (551-479 BCE) was a Chinese Politician and Philosopher during the Spring and Autumn Period (771-476 BCE).
- His Philosophy and Ethics System, called Confucianism, has been a major influence in the history of China.
Biography
- Confucious was brought up and worked in the State of Lu, China. His home town was Qufu.
- He became a Government Official in 551 BCE, when his first appointment was as a Governor of a town, before he moved on to become Minister of Crime.
- Between 497-484 BCE, Confucious exiled himself from Lu, and undertook a tour of the other States in China.
- After 484 BCE he returned to Lu, where he spent his remaining years, teaching his Philosophy, with a following of over 70 disciples.
- Confucious died at the age of 71-72 of natural causes.

- The Temple of Confucious in Qufu, Shandong Province, is dedicated to the study of Confucianism.
- Confucious’ Tomb lies in the Kong Lin cemetery, Qufu.
