De Bello Gallico

  • De Bello Gallica is the first hand account of the Gallic Wars by Julius Caesar (100 – 44 BCE)  who wrote it in the third person.
  • It was published between 58-49 BCE.

Description

  • It consists of 7 Books with an 8th book written by his General, Aulus Hirtius after his death.
  • In it Julius Caesar describes the conflict (58-51 BCE) with the Gallic Armies in modern France, Belgium and Switzerland, and the invasion of Britannia.
  • Each Book describes a year of the Conflict.
