Dio Chrysostom

Dio Chrysostom (c.40-115 CE) was a Greek Philosopher, Orator, Writer and Historian who lived in Rome.
He was exiled by Domitian but reinstated by his successors.

History

Born in Bithynia, he went to live in Rome, but was sent into Exile by Domitian after criticising the new Emperor. He was exiled again from Bithynia in 82 CE.
He supported Nerva as Roman Emperor, who ended his Exile. Trajan continued to support him.
Philostratus considered him pre-eminent amongst Philosophers of the Second Sophistic school of Greek Philosophers.
