Disciplina meant the Duty of Discipline and was part of the values of Mos Maiorum, the values of the Roman Social Hierarchy. This acted in parallel with the military Hierarchy.
The position and wealth of an individual in Roman Society was reflected in his Status and Rank in the Army.
