  • In 7 BCE Augustus divided Rome into 14 Districts called ‘Regiones’. Previously there had been 4.
  • These Districts were then subdivided into neighbourhoods known as ‘vici’.

    • VI Alta Semita
    • VII Via Lata
    • VIII Forum Romanum
    • IX Circus Flaminius

    • XII Piscina Publica
    • XIII Aventinus
    • XIV Transtiberim (Trastevere today)
  • Districts outside the Servian Wall:
    • I, V, VII, IX, XII, XIII, XIV.
