• Zeus is often depicted holding a Double Axe, known as the ‘Labrys’.

Minoan Civilisation

• The Double Axe was also a symbol of the Mother Goddess found in Minoan Crete (3000-1100 BCE).
• Many examples of the Double Axe symbol were found in the Palace of Knossos in Crete.
