Emporium

• The Emporium was the Docks of Ancient Rome on the Tiber.
• It replaced the old harbour of the Forum Boarium in 193 BCE.

Description

• Barges moored alongside the quays.
• Stone paved terraces and stone walls, connected by ladders, formed a series of terraces up the riverbank to the warehouses, known as the Porticus Aemilia.

• At the top stood the Porticus Aemilia, an enormous warehouse complex behind the docks, where all the Goods could be sorted and stored.
