Ennius

Quintus Ennius (c. 239-c.169 BCE) also known as Ennius, was a Roman Poet considered to be the Father of Roman Poetry.
He is noted for Annales, a History of Rome, which although a lost work, was reconstructed during the 16th century from quotations by other authors.

Annales
- A History of Rome written as an Epic Poem in Dactylic Hexameter in 15 volumes (later expanded to 18) which describes Roman history from the Fall of Troy to Cato the Elder.
- It was the standard Textbook for school children until replaced with the Aeneid by Virgil.
