- After 293 CE, Flavia Caesariensis was one of four Provinces in the Diocese of Britannia which included London. It lasted until 408 CE.
- The Province was created when the existing two Provinces of Britannia Inferior and Britannia Superior were further subdivided during the Tetrarchy of Diocletian (285-305 CE).

- In 293 CE Britannia Inferior was split into two:
- Britannia Superior was split into two:
- Britannia Prima (293-408 CE)
- Capital at Corinium Dobunnorum Cirencester (uncertain). This was the largest of the four and included Wales and the West country.
- Maxima Caesariensis (293-408 CE)
- There may have been a fifth Province called Valentia between 369-408 CE.
