Flood of Dardanus

  • The Flood of Dardanus refers to an Ancient Greek Flood Myth which occurred under Dardanus, the King of Arcadia.

The Myth

  • Dardanus was the king of Arcadia, married to Chryse, and the son of Zeus and Electra.
  • When Zeus sent a Great Flood, Dardanus and his brother Lasion, set sail on a boat that they had built.
  • When the waters subsided they landed on Samothrace.
  • Dardanus’ grandson Tros eventually founded Troy, and the Dardanelles are named after Dardanus.
