Flora and Fauna

  • ‘Flora and Fauna’ refers to the plant life and wildlife indigenous to a geographical region.
  • The expression comes from the names of Goddesses in Latin.

The Roman Gods and Goddesses

  1. Flora was the Roman Goddess of flowers.
  2. Fauna was the Roman Goddess of earth and fertility.
  3. Faunus was the Roman God of the fields, forests and plains, the Roman equivalent of the Greek God Pan.
  4. Faun was a Roman forest God or Goddess, half human from waist to the head, with the hind quarters of a goat (they had goat horns). They are also called Satyrs.
