- The ‘Forma Urbis Romae’, also known as the Severan Marble Plan, was created by Septimius Severus between 203-211 CE.
- It consists of 150 marble sections showing the floor plans for every Temple, Bath complex and Apartment Block (Insula) in Ancient Rome.
Description
- It is 60 feet (18m) wide by 45 feet (13m) high, on the interior walls of the Temple of Peace near the Colosseum, and was made from the records held of each property.
- Only 10% of the structure has been recovered, due to reuse of these marble slabs in other buildings during the medieval period.
Capitoline Museums
