Great Sand Sea

• The Great Sand Sea is an area of Sand dunes in the Sahara, stretching from the Qattara Depression in Western Egypt into Eastern Libya.

Description

• It reaches approximately 400 miles (650km) from north to south and around 185 miles (300km) from east to west.
• Three quarters of the area is covered with Sand dunes, which run in a north-south direction.
• The winds are predominantly from the North.
