Gulf of Aqaba

  • The Gulf of Aqaba, also known as the Gulf of Eilat, is one of two Gulfs created by the Sinai Peninsular bisection of the Red Sea. The other is the Gulf of Suez.
  • The Gulf of Aqaba extends south for 100 miles (160km) from Aqaba in Jordan and meets the Red Sea at the Straits of Tiran (width: 7 nautical miles or 13km).
