Harappa

• Harappa is a lost city and archeological site of the Indus Valley Civilisation, also known as the Harappan Civilisation, which dates from between 3,300-1,300 BCE.
• It was discovered in 1921 and is located in the Punjab Province of Pakistan.

History

• Harappa was a fortified city with a population of over 23,000 inhabitants, which peaked between 2,600-1,900 BCE.
• It is located 400 miles (643km) northeast from a similar lost city of the Indus Valley Civilisation called Mohenjo Daro discovered in 1922.
• Both cities were discovered by the British Archeologist Sir John Hubert Marshall.
