Hephaestus

  • In Greek Mythology Hephaestus was one of the Twelve Olympians, known to the Romans as Vulcan.
  • He was the God of Fire, Volcanoes, Metalworking and the Forge. He was usually portrayed holding a blacksmith’s hammer.

Temple of Hephaestus

  • The Temple of Hephaestus is an Ancient Greek Temple dedicated to Hephaestus, the God of Fire, which was built over 30 years between 449-415 BCE.
  • It is a Doric Peripteral Temple in very good condition which stands on the Agora of Athens, which lies to the northwest of the Acropolis.
