Hypatia

• Hypatia (370-415 CE) was the Chief librarian of the Great Library of Alexandria in Egypt.
• She was a celebrated Mathematician and Philosopher.

History

• Her father was Theon of Alexandria, a Greek Scholar who had edited the Works of Euclid.
• None of her Works have survived.
• In 415 CE, Hypatia died at the hands of a mob on the steps of the Caesareum in Alexandria.
