Inversion

  • Inversion refers to a sentence where the verb comes before the Noun or Preposition.
    • For example: ‘The man shouted’ becomes ‘Shouted the man’.

Anastrophe

  • Inversion is also known as an Anastrophe, which is where an Inversion is used for literary effect, so as to emphasise a point, or move the reader’s focus to another point.
