  • The Antonine Itinerary was a Road Map of the Roman Empire.
  • It is a listing of each Route or ‘Iter’ in the Roman Empire, naming the Way Stations and giving the distances between them.

Caerleon to Silchester overland via Gloucester and Newbury

  • Gloucester (Glevum)
  • Here the Text should read Cirencester
    • but it has been omitted in error, presumably by a Medieval copyist.
  • Wanborough (Durocornovium)
  • Newbury (Spinae?)
  • Silchester (Calleva Atrebatum)
