Josephina Road

  • The Josephina Road was a Salt Road in Croatia in use during the Roman Period which connected the Adriatic with the Pannonian Plain via two Passes through the Dinaric Alps.
  • The Road started at Senj on the Adriatic coast and ended at Karlovac. Some of the inclines were as steep as 30%.

The Passes

  • Vratnik Pass 2,300 ft (700m) between Senj and Brinje.
  • Kapela Pass 2,910 ft (887m) between Brinje and Modrus.
