Julia the Younger

  • Julia the Younger was Vipsania Julia Agrippina (19 BCE-29 CE), daughter of Julia the Elder and grandaughter of Augustus (27 BCE-14 CE).
  • She died in Exile on the island of Trimerus.

Biography

  • She was the Daughter of Marcus Vipsanius and Julia the Elder, granddaughter of Augustus.
  • In 8 CE Augustus exiled his grandaughter, Julia the Younger, to one of the Trimiti Islands in the Adriatic called Trimerus.
  • The reason given was that she had an extra-marital affair with a Senator called Silanus, and gave birth to his infant on the island, although the infant wasn’t permitted to survive.
  • She died there after twenty years in Exile.
