Kobbei

  • Kobbei is a deserted ruined town located on a dried-up oasis in the Darfur Region of Sudan.

The Way of the Forty

  • Wadi Howar was part of an ancient Camel Caravan Route described by Herodotus (c.484-425 BCE) as the ‘Way of the Forty’, because it took 40 days to travel by camel between Chad and the Nile.
  • Kobbei was the starting point for Camel Caravans on Wadi Howar, a dried-up riverbed that was once the Yellow Nile, a tributary of the Nile.
