Kotayk

• Kotayk is a Province in Armenia and was the Roman Province of Armenia.
• A Greco- Roman Temple from the first century CE has been reconstructed at Garni.

The Temple of Garni

• In 140 CE Antoninus Pius installed Sohemus as King of Armenia, but he was ousted by the Parthian Empire in 161 CE although re-installed in 163 CE.
• He is buried in the reconstructed (in 1975) Roman Garni Temple, Kotayk, 175 CE, the only Roman Monument in Armenia.
