Legatus Legionis

  • The Legatus Legionis was the Legionary Legate. This was a political office.
  • He commanded one Legion and its Auxiliary Army.

Description

  • The Legatus Legionis would also act as the Imperial Legate, the Governor of the Province, if there was only one Legion based there.
  • He was usually a Senator.
  • He would be appointed by the Roman Emperor for a term of 3 to 4 years.
