It consists of 15 Books describing 250 Myths from Ancient Greek Literature and Roman Literature.

Metamorphoses is considered to be a classic work of the Golden Age of Roman Literature.
It describes the history of the world from the Creation up to the death of Julius Caesar (100-44 BCE).
Ovid’s main recurring theme is how Love affects mortals and Gods alike.
Metamorphoses has influenced subsequent authors such as Dante, Boccaccio, Geoffrey Chaucer and William Shakespeare.
