- The museum is built over the Remains of the Roman Temple called the Augusteum. On a podium are 15 marble statues of Roman Emperors and their family members excavated from the Temple.
- Their heads had been broken off by the anti-Pagan laws enacted by Theodosius I (379-395 CE). Two of the heads had been acquired in 1878 by the British Archeologist Arthur Evans, and have since been reunited with their statues.
- Some of the statues that have been identified are of Germanicus, Drusus, Claudius, Agrippina the Younger, Livia and Vespasian.
- There is also an Inscription honouring Augustus by the Governor of Dalmatia, Cornelius Dolabella.
