- It was founded by the Anglo Saxons sometime between the 5th-7th centuries CE after the nearby Roman city at Caistor St Edmund had been abandoned.

- The Roman City of Venta Icenorum was located 3,5 miles (5.5km) to the south of Norwich. It was the capital of the Iceni Tribe.

- Consisting of Gold items and Silver Tableware, it was found in nearby Thetford and is now located in Room 49 in the British Museum in London.

- Over 150 gold, silver and copper alloy fragments of Torcs of which 70 are intact, of which the most famous is the Great Torc of Snettisham. They are in Room 49 in the British Museum.
