Oxymoron

  • An Oxymoron is a pair of words with opposite meanings, used either on their own or in a phrase.
  • The word was first used  c.400 CE and is derived from the Ancient Greek ‘oxus’ (sharp) + ‘moros’ (dull). The word itself is an oxymoron.
