- The Philopappos Monument is a Roman marble mausoleum located on the Mouseion Hill in Athens, Greece, south west of the Acropolis.
History
- Philopappos was a Roman Magistrate and Prince of Commagene. After his death in 116 CE, his sister and the Athenian townsfolk erected this Memorial, which commemorates his Grandfather as King of Commagene.
Description
- First storey:
- Philopoppos is carved in a Marble frieze, driving a Chariot dressed as a Consul led by Lictors.
- Second storey:
- There are three statues:
- Left: Antiochus IV of Commagene, (Philoppos’ Grandfather)
- Centre: Philopappos himself
- Right: Seleucus I Nicator, Founder of the Seleucid Empire (now lost)

- ‘King Antiochus Philopappos, son of King Epiphanes, son of Antiochus’
- (referring to Antiochus III and Antiochus IV of Commagene).
- ‘King Antiochus Philopappos, son of King Epiphanes, son of Antiochus’
