- Ramesses II, (c.1279-1213 BCE), also known as Ramesses The Great and as Ozymandias by the Greeks.
- He is considered by historians to be the greatest Pharaoh of Ancient Egypt. He ruled for 66 years, made Egypt wealthy and militarily powerful and built many Monuments.

- Ramesses II defeated their fleet in his second year according to a Stele from Tanis.

- In c.1274 BCE, he distinguished himself by opposing the Armies of the Hittite Empire at the Battle of Kadesh.
- The Battle of Kadesh was the greatest Chariot Battle ever fought and involved 5-6,000 Chariots.
Ramesseum
- By 1,250 BCE, he had completed a giant Funerary Temple dedicated to himself known as the Ramesseum.

- He built the Abu Simbel Temples at the Second Cataract on the Nile.
Exodus
- Rameses II is now considered to be the best candidate as the Pharaoh mentioned in the Book of Exodus in The Bible.
